Nanjing is a beautiful city also known as the “city of emperors”. Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province and the second largest city in eastern China. The city whose name means "Southern Capital" has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture, having served as the capitals of various Chinese dynasties, kingdoms and republican governments dating from the 3rd century AD to 1949. Located in the lower Yangtze River drainage basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Nanjing is home to one of the world's largest inland ports. Nanjing has long been a national center of education, research, transport networks and tourism. It was the host city of the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.
